The SnapTop™ Universal track offers the added feature of concealed screws. This versatile track is a low-profile aluminum guide similar to a door threshold. The Universal track system uses an adjustable dual-wheel assembly to guide the cover smoothly along the length of the pool. Are there any obstructions (raised spa, fountains, boulders, etc.) that would prevent our track placement along the pool edge?.Is there room at one end of the pool to accommodate the pool cover mechanism?.Can the track system be installed at the widest part of the pool with the tracks running parallel to each other?.To cover an existing swimming pool with a pool cover system, consider these questions: The cover mechanism can be housed either underground (recessed) or on top of the deck (deck-mounted). Compared to basic manual covers costing 2,000-3,000, automatic covers are far more expensive up front, running 2-3 times the price or more. This encompasses the cover system, installation, and any additional components. We cover existing pools by placing low-profile track near the edge of the pool. These covers can cost you 15,000 on average. One thing is that if you have little kids in the yard and an automatic cover.that WILL NOT keep them off the cover itself, a friend of mine found out when he turned around to find a 3 year old in the middle of the cover! Granted nothing happended but to be more safe find a way to keep them off the cover altogether. The winter cover is great, I wish I bought a better brand fence. Both arent hard projects (cover is easiest) but are labor intensive. The aluminum fence around the pool was approx 2k (cheap brand, better ones add 1k). Of all of the "extras" I put in my pool, the cover is one that I would *never* skimp on. I know that if I had to manually cover and uncover my pool, I would either never use it or never close it. I would wholeheartedly encourage you to get an automatic safety cover, esp. It's much better when they do it during construction, as the motor and roll can be housed underground so you don't have to see it or deal with it (some people build a deck box to house the roll and the motor if it is installed after the pool is built, but it's much nicer to not have to look at or trip over stuff that is best left unseen). ![]() ![]() If you are thinking about getting an automatic cover, now is the time to do it!! I have had automatic covers both ways installed after-the-fact in my previous home and during the construction in my current home.
